Sending from overseas means checking more than the time difference. Mother’s Day may fall on a different date from yours, and Swiss public holidays vary by canton. Use these pointers to plan a gift for someone in Switzerland.
Choose flowers for the occasion
Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are worth checking
Switzerland celebrates Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May. For senders in the UK or France, that may not match the date in your own calendar. With KANEL, look for an available delivery on the preceding Saturday so the flowers are there for the weekend.
Swiss Father’s Day is generally observed on the first Sunday of June, though family and regional traditions differ. Check which date your recipient celebrates rather than assuming the one used in your country. A Saturday bouquet can be a lovely start to a Sunday celebration.

Valentine’s Day, Christmas and cantonal holidays
Valentine’s Day is 14 February. For Christmas, think about when the family gathers and whether somebody can receive the flowers, rather than assuming delivery on the holiday itself. The weekday changes each year, and regular Tuesday-to-Saturday delivery does not mean every public holiday is available.
Swiss National Day is 1 August. Other public holidays depend on the canton: Geneva’s Jeûne genevois, for example, is local rather than nationwide. Enter the recipient’s address to check available dates; you do not need to memorize every cantonal holiday list.

Book the date, then make the gift personal
Outside the Geneva area, bouquet deliveries run from Tuesday to Saturday, with a 4 pm Swiss-time cut-off on the day before. For a Sunday or Monday occasion, choose the Saturday before. In the Geneva area, Monday and same-day delivery may be offered for orders placed before 2 pm, depending on the address.
Check the calendar for your recipient’s address first, then choose the flowers and write your card. You confirm the date when you place the order. If you are overseas, go by Swiss time for the cut-off: the dates shown at checkout are a better guide than any general holiday list.
