Think about the colors of your wedding flowers, a garden you visited or a bouquet you once brought home together. You do not need to reproduce a bridal bouquet exactly. A familiar palette can carry the memory without depending on a particular flower being in season.

Choose their everyday favorites

Someone who loves loose, colorful arrangements may prefer a seasonal bouquet to red roses. Someone who enjoys an understated room may appreciate softer tones. Personal knowledge is a better guide than a list assigning a flower to each anniversary year.

Mark the occasion in your own way

A silver or golden anniversary can invite a more generous arrangement, but only if that is what the couple enjoys. The card can name the milestone while the bouquet reflects their taste. A modest bouquet with a specific memory can feel more intimate than an oversized arrangement.

The traditional flowers by year

English-language anniversary guides give a flower to each milestone. The lists vary from one source to another, but most agree on these:

The list does not follow the seasons: daffodils are a spring flower, and our bouquets are made from the week’s arrivals. A specific detail makes a message personal. Mention a memory, a daily ritual or something you still look forward to together. You do not have to write a long declaration.

• “Still my favorite person to come home to. Happy anniversary.”
• “Twenty-five years together, and so much still to look forward to.”

Adapt the words rather than copying a memory that is not yours. If you are sending flowers to another couple, address both people and keep the message appropriate to your relationship. The message card is included from CHF 55 of flowers; below that it costs CHF 2.90.

Bouquets can be booked up to 15 days ahead. In Geneva, same-day delivery is available Monday to Saturday for orders before 2 pm, subject to the calendar. Elsewhere in Switzerland, order before 4 pm for the next available day, Tuesday to Saturday.

It is the delivery postcode that matters. Living in Geneva does not make an order to Basel a same-day delivery. For a Sunday anniversary, consider Saturday; for a Monday outside Geneva, choose an available Saturday before or Tuesday after.

For an office surprise, make sure the recipient will be there and reception accepts flowers. For a home delivery, use the correct doorbell name and provide a number the sender can answer.
